Pavelsis, which contributes to the Turkish defense industry with its domestic design and production, also stands out in the aviation sector with its innovative products.
Pavelsis, which produces the power distribution system of the 5th generation fighter jet Kaan, works in a ‘tailor-made’ manner by taking into account customer demand in the design and production of avionics subsystems in projects requiring high technology.
Pavelsis, which operates in Teknopark Istanbul, carries out the design and production of critical avionics subsystems on many manned and unmanned platforms. Pavelsis, which designs and produces the power distribution system of the 5th generation fighter jet Kaan, one of the most popular projects of the Turkish defense industry, has also signed many projects in the sector. Pavelsis General Manager Sinan Ali Tok explained their work and goals to Istanbul Trade.
WE HAVE ACCELERATED AFTER THE SPIN-OFF
In which areas are you developing products or technologies?
As Pavelsis, we started our work in the avionics group under the Pavo Group in 2008. In 2019, Pavelsis was established as a spin-off company with the principle of full compliance with aviation and the standards it brings. After this decision, we accelerate our activities and work with all our might to bring our brand and projects to wider audiences in both national and international defense industry every day. With our technical infrastructure and well-equipped R&D team, we design and manufacture critical avionics subsystems on many manned and unmanned platforms.
INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS IN AVIATION
Can you tell us about your projects or the products you have developed?
Pavelsis pushes the boundaries of technological excellence in avionics subsystems. We prioritize a customer-oriented approach. Our team works in close cooperation with customers to understand their needs in projects and offers special solutions that increase aircraft performance, reliability and overall operational efficiency. Focusing on innovation, quality and environmental responsibility, we are advancing with confident steps in the aviation sector with innovative products by proposing solutions that enable aircraft to reach the desired level of performance, efficiency and safety. Many of the avionics systems we have developed have successfully exceeded the 1 million flight hour threshold. Some of these systems are as follows:
- KAAN 5th generation fighter jet power distribution system design and manufacturer
- UAV/SIHA communication interface units and data acquisition systems design and manufacturer
- Cockpit lighting systems design and manufacturer
- Turkey's first and only MIL-STD-1553B test system design and manufacturer
NEW GENERATION SOFTWARE
Are advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning used in production?
Pavelsis makes significant investments in research and development to stay ahead of industry trends. We work with all our might to be at the forefront of technological developments. Our commitment to innovation allows us to foresee and adapt to the evolving needs of the aviation and space sector by ensuring the continuous improvement of our avionics subsystems. In this context, we continue our work to integrate new generation software and applications in production technologies into our ecosystem.
LOW TURNOVER
What kind of R&D team do you have?
We have a young and dynamic R&D team. In addition to new graduates, our team also includes colleagues with 10-15 years of experience.
Our strongest aspect is our low turnover rate. We have had colleagues who went abroad or to foundation companies, but this rate is low. For this reason, we can continue on our path with confident steps by adding to our knowledge every year.
THERE IS DEMAND FROM THE GULF
Do you receive demand from abroad?
The interest in our brand and products is increasing day by day, especially in the Gulf countries. Of course, this situation excites us, and it makes us extremely proud to receive the rewards of our work. In the fairs and delegation meetings we attended abroad, it was very clear that the interest and attention to the products led to the start of new projects. In the system perspective, agility and benefit-cost triangle that stands out from other players in the market; we continue our work in target markets to provide the best solution to them by evaluating the needs of institutions in a layered competency basis.
ACCORDING TO CUSTOMER DEMAND
Will there be new products, different areas?
Our products in the sector under the name Pavelsis are shaped in a tailor-made way according to the demands and needs of our customers. This situation contributes to the growth and development of our product portfolio together with our customers. In addition to the current product variety, the work of many projects that we are counting the days to offer to our customers' experience continues at full speed. It is impossible not to mention horizontal expansion in different areas for avionics subsystems. However, we aim to introduce new products to the sector this year on the vertical expansion of products at TRL 9 level.
TARGET DAL-A LEVEL
Can you tell us about your future goals?
Since the day we decided to continue our path as a spin-off in 2019, we have signed many successful projects with fast and confident steps. Like every brand, we have corporate goals. Within the framework of these goals, as Pavelsis, we have developed products at all criticality levels except DAL A, the most critical level of avionics standards, in the last 4 years and have been approved by the authorized authorities. We have signed projects that will develop our products together with very valuable platform manufacturers in Turkey and abroad. In the coming years, developing our products at DAL A level and ensuring that they are approved by civil aviation authorities are among our most important goals.
WE RECEIVE SUPPORT AT EVERY STEP
What are the benefits of being in Teknopark Istanbul for you?
We would like to thank the Teknopark Istanbul management, who has been with us at every step from the start-up process to the development of all our products that we have been working on since the first day of our establishment. Since 2019, we have continued to produce our products used in national and international skies and develop our new projects.
Local companies are working with all their might.
The contribution of local and national companies to the defense industry is increasing day by day. What is our situation in the defense industry compared to other countries?
In order for the Turkish defense industry to reach the places it deserves, in a way befitting the Turkish Century, all local companies continue to work with all their might. We are always proud to be a part of this. The foreign delegation meetings held under the leadership of the local defense industry are the best example of this. On behalf of Pavelsis, the experience and preference of projects produced by the knowledge and experience of expert engineers on international platforms makes us proud. The opportunities provided to our own engineers by our country, which is geographically in a critical position, with the reverse brain drain strategy, bring us to a point where many countries take us as an example.
