Pavelsis General Manager Sinan Ali Tok explained the role of Pavelsis in the KAAN Project and its work within the scope of the project to SavunmaTR Publication Coordinator Şerafettin Bilgiç.
Pavelsis, one of the companies within the PAVO Group, stands out as a company specialized in avionics systems.
In this context, Pavelsis, which develops the avionics systems of many platforms developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), also plays an important role in the KAAN Project.
Pavelsis General Manager Sinan Ali Tok made special statements to SavunmaTR about the new generation technologies they developed.
First of all, Sinan Ali Tok, who told the story of Pavelsis' establishment, made the following statements;
“Pavelsis is a company of ours established as a spinoff from Pavotek at the end of 2019. In fact, the Pavelis team started its Pavoda adventure in 2008.
Since 2008, it has been in these projects and has only focused on avionics.
In the 2013s, it became the avionics directorate, in the 2016s it became the directorate, and in 2019, due to certain distinctions due to standards, it was spun off and the Pavelsis company was established.
After becoming Pavelsis, we became a spinoff with a team of 20-25 people. In the last 3-4 years, we have reached approximately 100 people and we have actually placed our products in many platforms made in Turkey.
We have placed our designs in these areas. From this point on, we are now starting to make our domestic and international designs more mature and place them in different platforms.”
“We are a company that designs electronic systems in all kinds of flying platforms”
Tok, who explained what avionics systems are as they come;
“Avionics is actually an acronym for aviation electronics, we are a company that designs electronic systems inside all kinds of flying platforms.
We don’t deal with the platform itself much, but we are a company that designs whatever flight critical or mission critical systems are needed for it to fly. We carry out its hardware design, mechanical design, htl design or software designs if there is any.”
“Our products were inside the aircraft in both the first installment and the first flight”
Sinan Ali Tok, who explained how the KAAN process developed on behalf of Pavelsis;
“KAAN actually started much earlier, but the signing process was a bit delayed. At the beginning, the maturation phase of the project and the bidding processes took longer, but if I remember correctly, we signed our first contract in 2021 and signed a contract that included the power distribution units and actually all the power distribution units in the aircraft. Although it was a bit more of a concept design and settling of the requirements at the beginning, it quickly started to turn into a product in time. In the first taxi and in the first flight, our products were actually in the plane and in this way, we actually brought the products to a working state.” he said.
“We are present on many platforms”
Stating that they have taken part in many platforms developed by TUSAŞ, Pavelsis General Manager;
“As I said, we are present on many platforms, but in ANKA-3, which has been on the agenda recently, we are actually present with more than one of our products. In ANKA, AKSUNGUR and ŞİMŞEK, our products are actually in these. Certain of our products, in fact, our products whose designs have been completed, can be included in new platforms. We can also make redesigns for new platforms. We realize all of this from the communication system to the terminal connection units, from the control systems to the servo units.” he said.
“There is nothing like the pleasure that comes from that labor”
Pavelsis General Manager Sinan Ali Tok, who expressed that the pride he felt in taking part in the KAAN Project was an indescribable happiness, finally made the following statements:
“As you said, although I work as a general manager, I am an engineer and I actually try to be present at all stages of the process. I want to be present. I watched some interviews of KAAN’s work team during the process. There is really good information provided by TUSAŞ. There is actually a narrow scope of this regarding how much effort people, employees and engineers put in and how much they believe in this work.
In fact, we were at the head of the platform wherever it was necessary and we actually tried to add the maximum value we could there. We actually achieved the same situation here. Being able to complete such a job in such a short period of time requires a little bit, it requires dedication and belief. Thank God, we worked day and night with all our teammates, I say this without exaggerating, we actually reached a certain point by working like that.
At this point, the products we make as technological gains, especially the products made for the first time in Turkey at certain voltage levels, there are examples in the world. There are definitely some, but they are made for the first time in Turkey and you touch almost every device on the plane. Since it is a power distribution unit, it is produced in one place, it is also difficult to produce, it comes to one place, from a single point and from there it actually spreads out and goes to the whole plane and all kinds of problems of all the systems on the plane come directly to this box or the characteristic differences, this also provides many things. You can see many things that you have not seen, experienced or thought you had not experienced in the field. That is why the tests here and the tests in the field are not the same, they are not the same, but the pleasure that comes from that effort and labor in the field is nothing.
